VSR (Virtual Showroom) is an interactive 3D experience I developed as an add-on for the UW 3D Configurator. It extends the main configurator by letting customers see their customised product inside a pre-designed 3D room, for a more immersive and realistic presentation.
The goal
Bridge the gap between product customisation and real-world visualisation: customers experience the desk they just configured in a virtual interior before they buy it.
Key features and implementation
- Seamless integration: built as an independent WordPress add-on that connects to the main UW 3D Configurator through custom hooks and a dependency-aware plugin architecture.
- 3D model synchronisation: clones the customer’s configured product directly from the main Three.js viewer into the showroom, preserving its local position, rotation and scale.
- GLTF/GLB integration: loads optimised 3D room environments with Three.js and GLTFLoader.
- Dynamic model placement: automatically adjusts the product’s orientation and scale so it sits naturally in the room.
- Interactive 3D environment: an immersive fullscreen showroom with custom camera positioning and OrbitControls for natural navigation.
- Modular asset management: frontend assets and 3D resources are handled independently and only load when the VSR feature is enabled.
